Case Studies

These case studies focus on:

  • Lead scientific partner: CSIC

It will investigate the potential for utilization of by-products from low-trophic aquaculture by quantifying to what degree shellfish aquaculture can be promoted as a sink for anthropogenic CO2.

Specific tasks will include:

  • Explore alternatives for the current destructive technologies using CaCO3 in shells
  • Validate the alternative technologies for CaCO3 utilization in the lab
  • Lead Scientific Partner: CCMAR

It will test the effect of including low trophic species in existing feed formulas for marine and freshwater finfish and for marine whiteleg shrimp. In the case of piracuru it wil develop a diet for enhancing the reproductive performance.
