AquaVitae and Astral highlight sustainable aquaculture at EAS23 in Vienna

AquaVitae and ASTRAL in booth 148 at EAS23 in Vienna, Austria

The AquaVitae project is presenting some of its results at Europe Aquaculture, which takes place from 19-21 October in Vienna, Austria. AquaVitae is sharing stand 148 with its sister project ASTRAL.

Among other results, AquaVitae will promote the MOOC (Free Massive Online Course), the AquaVitae Game and the Policy Brief, designed under the framework of the AquaVitae project. The Policy Brief is a document addressed to the administration with recommendations to implement low trophic aquaculture. The AquaVitae Game, created in CETMAR, is aimed at high level and master students related to marine sciences and aquaculture, as well as the general public who wants to know the benefits of a sustainable aquaculture.

In addition to reporting on the project at booth 148, AquaVitae will disseminate its Final Conference in Galway as well as present its results in several conferences throughout the three days. Furthermore, on Thursday the project will host along with ASTRAL the workshop Barriers and Opportunities to the development of Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) and Low Trophic Aquaculture (LTA): Experiences from European Projects focusing on IMTA and low trophic species.

This workshop will serve to identify and overcome the significant barriers that persist in the EU within the sector. It also aims at developping a common roadmap for innovation and competitiveness in IMTA and LTA. The focus will be on the sustainable development potential of LTA and IMTA in three different blocks. To this end, several European projects dedicated to advancing the aquaculture sector – AquaVitae, ASTRAL, FutureEUAqua, InEVal, Integrate, IMPAQT, INNOAQUA, Remedia and SeaMark – will present their progress in this field. Registration for this workshop is still open:
